JUNK FOOD MARKETING

Children are constantly bombarded with junk food marketing. £480m is spent each year advertising products high in fat and sugar on television alone. Junk food marketing contradicts all the messages about healthy eating children recieve, undermining their ability to choose better food and their parents effort to feed them healthily.

TV advertsing is supposed have been curtailed/controlled ar peak childrens' viewing times but food manufacturers marketing are using other medias to reach them

According to BBC News Junk food ad ban plans have been laid out to ban junk food ads during shows watched by U 16s

SOme good videos are linked - likee healthy eating promo. Which video highlights exactly the sort of pressure parents are put under via food advertising

Agree re video links -really shows the size of the problem eg 6 stone at the age of 4!!!!

TV advertising may have been curtailed but it has been shifted to other mediums eg computer /kids magazines
